The Prue
This necklace is named for Prue Halliwell, the incomparable character from the TV show Charmed, played by the late actress, Shannen Doherty. When I heard of her recent passing, it hit me quite hard. She was always one of my favorite witches, and my favorite Halliwell sister. Life was too short for both character and actress. Coincidentally, the week before she died, I had been in my jewelry workshop, obsessively trying to make wire triquetras, the iconic witch sister symbol in Charmed, representing "The Power of Three". I like to think she was throwing a bit of her magic my way before leaving earth.
Prue Halliwell was a powerful witch, filled with self-determination, deep strength, and an unflappable love for her sisters. Her primary powers were telekinesis and astral projection. She was a Scorpio. May the power of three set her free.
This collar necklace is a statement piece that embodies Prue's intensity, magic, and elegance. Hanging from the collar portion is the focal pendant, a handmade hammered copper wire triquetra symbol. The triquetra is an ancient Celtic symbol, just one of many Celtic knots. Through the ages, it has been used to represent many things, including the triple goddess. In Charmed, it represented the three sisters, aka The Charmed Ones, and the concept of "The Power of Three", a recurring theme throughout the show.
Within the center of this copper triquetra is a round faceted larvikite bead. Larvikite is a mystical stone which represents transformation and inner strength.
The pendant component measures approximately 2 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. The pendant hangs gently from the ornate collar portion, which consists of twisted hammered wires, further accented with hematite beads.
The curved collar portion measures approximately 9 inches across and sits high up against the neckline, on or above the collar bone.
The piece in its entirety hangs from a copper alloy chain which is adjustable to any link. The necklace as a whole, with chain, measures approximately 19 inches long at its longest point, and is adjustable shorter. Dangling from the back of the chain is a hematite bead that will cascade dramatically down the back of the neck when worn.
This piece is wrapped in bare copper wire, then carefully antiqued by hand and polished to bring out the organic highlights and lowlights of the beautiful metal.
There is a slight flexibility to the collar component, but please be extremely gentle and DO NOT BEND IT.
