The Medusa

€65.00

This one of a kind pendant is made in tribute to Medusa, the misunderstood. This piece features swirls and tentacles made from copper wire, wrapped around a lovely colorful ruby zoisite stone.

Medusa, one of the Gorgon sisters from Greek Mythology, is often remembered as the monster with snakes for hair, who turned anyone who gazed upon her into stone. But like most women, she is far more complex than this. Some tales tell us that she is daughter of Gaia, and that she was born in the sea, a female of great beauty. She was cursed, demonized, and exiled because of actions beyond her control. What woman cannot relate to that? As with all Greek mythology, there are conflicting views on her story. Some associate her with horror, and some view her as a symbol of protection. I choose to see her as powerful and awe-inspiring, stunning people with her magic. While mythology does not technically consider Medusa to be a goddess, I choose to empower her and include her here, in the "Goddess" section of my shop.

Ruby Zoisite is associated with happiness and vitality. The copper wire snakes around this stone, representing Medusa's beautiful life force entwining and fusing with her new, powerful destiny. May this pendant bring out your truly stunning nature.

This pendant is sold on a 17-inch long copper chain with a 3-inch extender chain (alternate chain options may be available upon request). The pendant is approximately 2 inches tall and .75 inches wide. This piece is wrapped in copper wire, then carefully antiqued by hand and polished to bring out the organic highlights and lowlights of the beautiful metal.
