While the name for this necklace was originally inspired by the wonderful new song, Sympathy Magic, by Florence + The Machine, the name also has a deeper meaning involving connection and power.
Sympathetic or Sympathy Magic is a magical belief system where two objects or entities can influence each other by way of a mystical connection. This form of magic involves the belief that any two things that have been in contact with one another will continue to be connected, even after being separated. I think this concept is beautiful.
So, what better name for a two-part pendant! This necklace features a pendant which is actually two separate stones set in copper, then connected via a hinge-like attachment.
The top stone is a smaller round lepidolite stone stone set in hammered copper and adorned with a small black Czech glass bead. Lepidolite gemstone is said to foster peace, calm, and can aid one during transitions.
Below is the second part of the pendant, a larger black agate stone, also set in hammered copper, accented with wire designs in circles and angles, as well as onyx and Czech glass beads. Black agate is associated with protection and grounding.
The pendant in its entirety measures approximately 3.5 inches tall and 1 inch wide. It moves gently at its middle connection point.
The entire two-part pendant hangs from a hand-linked chain of black Czech glass beads. The chain is approximately 16-inches long with a 2-inch extender chain.
This piece is wrapped in copper wire, then carefully antiqued by hand and polished to bring out the organic highlights and lowlights of the beautiful metal.
