The Morrigan
The Goddess Morrigan is complex and multifaceted. She is known in Celtic lore to be a a witch, a warrior, and a shapeshifter. She is sometimes called the Phantom Queen and other times, her mythology overlaps with that of Morgan Le Fay. The Morrigan is frequently associated with crows and ravens, mystical creatures that can fly between the living world and the underworld. She is transformative in her very nature.
This dramatic collar necklace features a black agate stone set in antiqued copper wire. The pendant portion is comprised of hammered wire encasing the stone in a design both symmetrical and lavish, balancing curves with sharp edges. The wire then twists wildly up the collar portion of the necklace, creating a statement piece that is enchanting and wicked.
The pendant component measures approximately 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. It is attached to the stiff collar portion, which is made from copper wire twisted together. The curved collar portion measures approximately 8 inches across and sits high up against the neckline, on or above the collar bone.
The piece in its entirety hangs from a copper alloy chain which is adjustable to any link. The necklace as a whole, with chain, measures approximately 18 inches long at its longest point, and is adjustable shorter. Dangling from the back of the chain is a faceted black obsidian bead that will cascade dramatically down the back of the neck when worn.
This piece is wrapped in bare copper wire, then carefully antiqued by hand and polished to bring out the organic highlights and lowlights of the beautiful metal.
There is a slight flexibility to the collar component, but please be extremely gentle and DO NOT BEND IT.
