Morgan le Fay
Morgan le Fay, also known as Morgana, is by far my favorite witchy icon. Morgan is a dark, powerful enchantress from Arthurian lore and Celtic mythology. A legendary Druid, she was both healer and shapeshifter. As a skilled practitioner of magic, she ruled over Avalon and was equal parts respected and feared.
Much like Morgan le Fay herself, this statement piece is complex, intricate, dark, and mysterious.
This dramatic collar necklace features a large oval black obsidian stone set majestically in antiqued copper wire. Above the obsidian stone sits a smaller black onyx stone, a crown upon the focal piece. The pendant portion is comprised of hand-hammered wire encasing the stones in a symmetrical and intricate design, capturing the power and magic of mythology’s most compelling witch. It is further adorned by hematite and copper beads.
Several wires twist and curve as they climb up the collar portion of the necklace, creating a statement piece that is dramatic and extravagant. Fit for the sorceress, Morgan Le Fay.
The pendant component measures approximately 2.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. It is attached to the stiff collar portion, which is made from copper wire twisted together. The curved collar portion measures approximately 8 inches across and sits high up against the neckline, on or above the collar bone.
The piece in its entirety hangs from a copper alloy chain which is adjustable to any link. The necklace as a whole, with chain, measures approximately 20 inches long at its longest point, and is adjustable shorter. Dangling from the back of the chain is a faceted black obsidian bead that will cascade dramatically down the back of the neck when worn.
This piece is wrapped in bare copper wire, then carefully antiqued by hand and polished to bring out the organic highlights and lowlights of the beautiful metal.
There is a slight flexibility to the collar component, but please be extremely gentle and DO NOT BEND IT.
