It’s Solstice Season, Magical Folk…

Happy June! Today is the New Moon, and the Summer Solstice is only two weeks away. This time of year in Germany, it stays light until after 10:00 pm. We have had so much rain (maybe even a little too much?) but now the sun is shining and everything is in bloom - everything! My local park is like a wild jungle.

Many of you are still basking in the glow of a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of the Aurora Borealis. I was unable to see it last month, but rumor has it there will be more opportunities ahead, so “Drück die Daumen” (the German version of “cross your fingers”).

I just returned from a lovely excursion to the German Black Forest Region. Check out some of my photos below.

The Diana Pendant

This goddess-inspired pendant features banded amethyst, a gemstone closely associated with Diana. The iconic Roman goddess, Diana, is known for her many attributes, including being goddess of wild animals, fertility, and the moon. She is a female icon that has spanned millennia and inspired countless characters in literature and film throughout the ages.

Amethyst gemstone is said to enhance wisdom, clarity, and connection to one’s higher self and spirit guides. This pendant features a teardrop-shaped amethyst stone set in antiqued hand-hammered copper wire in a design both strong and wild. The piece is further adorned with copper and hematite beads. The Amunet Necklace

Amunet is the name of a Primordial Egyptian Goddess. Also known as “The Hidden One”, she is said to predate the beginning of creation. Her mythology further associates her with protection, healing, and regeneration. As I was creating this pendant, I felt like I had an ancient Egyptian relic in my hands, and so I offer this one up in celebration of Amunet.

This piece features a round carnelian gemstone set in hand-hammered antiqued copper. The focal stone is accented by a triangular goldstone cabochon above and a deep red India Agate bead below. The amulet is further adorned with curls, swirls, and copper beads.

Moon Amulet: Copper and India Agate

This magical crescent moon amulet features copper wire adorned with green India agate and glass beads, along with spirals and swirls. The pendant has an organic feel and each one is totally unique. This pendant is sold on a 16-inch long copper alloy chain with a 2-inch extender chain. Dangling from the end of the chain is a beautiful India agate bead that will cascade dramatically down the back of your neck.

Black Forest Magic

It’s no wonder that so many spooky and wondrous fairy tales are based on Germany’s Black Forest. I was lucky enough to visit this region for a second time last month. My parents were visiting me and I enjoyed showing them all the enchanted forests and witchy medieval architecture. A few of the highlights included the towns of Sasbachwalden, Gengenbach, Triberg, and a side trip to Strasbourg, France, as well as Mummelsee (home to a legendary mermaid!) and Hohenzollern Castle. Enjoy the sampling of pics below. The amount of legend and lore coming out of this area is astounding. Some of my past pieces were inspired by this magical land, and I am sure more Black Forest inspirations will be forthcoming.
